Steven Moffat, creator of 'Sherlock' and showrunner of 'Doctor Who', will give a talk discussing his career in television.

The Scottish screenwriter, creator and showrunner of series such as Sherlock and Doctor Who, will attend the festival and participate in a talk about his extensive career as creator, producer, and screenwriter.

Moffat will attend the festival coinciding with celebrations of his golden era at the forefront of British television, being considered one of the most ingenious screenwriters in recent history. Sherlock, the contemporary update of Arthur Conan Doyle’s classic that he co-created with Mark Gatiss, is one of the BBC’s most iconic dramas. Over its four seasons, the show achieved massive global success and numerous accolades, including 9 Emmy Awards (among them, Best Writing for Moffat himself) and a prestigious BAFTA Award for Best Drama Series, catapulting the careers of Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman.

Following the prestige achieved with his early works, Moffat took on the role of executive producer and head writer of the legendary sci-fi series Doctor Who between 2010 and 2017. Under his leadership, the show experienced one of its most successful and global eras featuring Matt Smith and Peter Capaldi as the Doctor. With Doctor Who, Moffat took genre fiction to a new level thanks to his complex time-bending puzzles and the creation of now-iconic monsters like the Weeping Angels, masterfully combining family adventure, suspense, and emotion.

Moffat started in British television with the acclaimed youth series Press Gang and the brilliant sitcom Coupling, inspired by his own personal relationships. Among other works, he has also recently stood out as the creator of the miniseries Dracula, Inside Man, and the television adaptation of The Time Traveler’s Wife.
