School Session: ‘Deepfake’

Sections Premiere

Serielizados Fest brings 'Deepfake' to Spain, an unsettling thriller exploring the boundaries of artificial intelligence and the fragility of truth in the digital age.

The life of Stéphanie, twenty-five years old, takes a radical turn when a compromising video of her mother goes viral. Despite experts agreeing that the recording is genuine, Stéphanie is convinced it is a setup designed to ruin her mother’s political career and harm her influential family. Determined to discover who created it and why, the young woman is dragged into a world as unexpected as it is dangerous. Although it goes against everything that defines her, Stéphanie manages to get hired under a false identity at a start-up suspected of having the technology required to create undetectable deepfake videos.

Inspired by the real impact and threats of current technology, the series unfolds a gripping investigative plot where blackmail, identity theft, and family conspiracies intertwine. Amidst this web of lies with international repercussions, Stéphanie will discover that the truth is not what she thought.
