‘N00b’

Set in 2005 in a small New Zealand town, N00b follows Nikau, the most popular student at his high school, whose world collapses when his gay fanfiction goes public and people start questioning his sexuality. Forced to come out, Nikau loses his place on the rugby team, is shunned by his old friends, and finds refuge in the new world offered by the Internet.

In the vein of shows like the recent Overcompensating or cult hits like Popular, N00b stands out as the teen queer comedy of the season, mixing sexual and irreverent humour with unapologetic pop nostalgia — from MySpace to MTV, from Paris Hilton to Jersey Shore. One of the major sensations at the last Cannes Series festival.
