‘Matar a un oso’

Serielizados presents this fascinating and tense Pyrenean western with the soul of a courtroom thriller, about the curious story of Cachou the bear.

Created by brothers Jorge and Alberto Sánchez-Cabezudo (Crematorio, La zona), and starring Eduard Fernández, María Rodríguez Soto, Miki Esparbé, Pol López, and Nora Navas, the series takes as its starting point a striking real-life event that occurred during the 2020 lockdown: the discovery of the body of Cachou the bear in the Aran Valley. What begins as an isolated discovery quickly turns into an unprecedented criminal investigation in Spain, where the death of an animal is treated with the rigor of a homicide. This court case uncovers a pressure cooker of local grudges, community secrets, and brutal tensions between ancestral tradition, environmentalism, and European directives.

With the majestic and claustrophobic landscape of the Catalan Pyrenees as another character, Matar a un oso eschews Manichaeism to confront the rural world with global demands. An impeccable proposal with immense political and human weight that forces us to ask an inevitable question: what happens when the laws of progress collide head-on with the roots of a territory?
