Icelandic filmmaker Benedikt Erlingsson, one of the most recognized authors in the current European scene, will offer a masterclass on his career, covering both film and television, with titles such as 'Of Horses and Men', 'Woman at War', and the recent series 'The Danish Woman', competing this year in the festival’s International Official Section.
Benedikt Erlingsson is one of the highlighted guests of this edition of Serielizados. In addition to presenting his new series, The Danish Woman, competing in the International Official Section, he will conduct a masterclass in which he will review his career as a director, screenwriter, and actor, marked by a unique style that combines dark humor, social critique, and a deep commitment to environmental issues.
His feature debut, Of Horses and Men (2013), was awarded at the San Sebastián Film Festival, while Woman at War (2018) premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and established Erlingsson as a benchmark of contemporary European cinema. His new series, The Danish Woman, co-produced between Iceland and France, tells the story of a former Danish Secret Service agent retired in Reykjavik, who turns her apartment block into a battlefield by applying her unwavering sense of justice to solve her neighbors’ problems.
Throughout his career, Erlingsson has also stood out as an actor and creator in theater and television, always advocating for committed, innovative cinema with a distinctive voice.
