Serielizados hosts a live session of La Trama, the podcast on screenwriting and audiovisual writing featuring Catalonia's top screenwriters. In this session, the guests will be screenwriter, cartoonist, and illustrator Martí Melcion, alongside screenwriter and comedian Ignasi Taltavull.
This live recording, open to the public, will delve into the ins and outs of bitter humor, melancholy, and crafting comedy from adverse situations. Screenwriter, cartoonist, and comic book illustrator Martí Melcion, creator of Elma i els seus amics, stands out for his work in graphic humor and contemporary visual storytelling. For his part, screenwriter and comedian Ignasi Taltavull, co-founder and co-host of the popular podcast La Ruïna, has recently contributed to the script of the new series Se tiene que morir mucha gente.
During the talk, the guests will analyze how the tragic tone is approached within the comedic genre, the boundaries of depressing comedy in today’s audiovisual landscape, and the creative mechanisms used to turn vulnerability and disenchantment into hilarious stories without losing audience empathy. Where does the line between tragedy and laughter lie in contemporary fiction? How is the tone balanced when writing about sadness, failure, or frustration? Has today’s audience found a refuge in darker and more uncomfortable humor?
La Trama is a Serielizados production in collaboration with DAMA (Derechos de Autor de Medios Audiovisuales) and supported by the Institut Català de les Empreses Culturals (ICEC) and the Master’s Degree in Audiovisual Screenwriting at UB and UdL.
