‘David: The story of David’

Marking exactly ten years since its premiere, Serielizados recovers David: The Story of David, a web series unreleased in Spain that follows a dull, ordinary man whose life takes an unexpected turn when a tarot reader tells him he has barely five weeks left to live. A premise as absurd as it is unsettling, serving to build a story filled with dark humor and strangeness, with a unique take on the absurdity of our daily lives.

The series, which Serielizados screens in its entirety, stars Nathan Fielder, one of the most unique creators in contemporary comedy, known for works such as Nathan for You, The Rehearsal or The Curse. In David: The Story of David, Fielder delivers a portrait of an ordinary man that is as baffling as it is fascinating, foreshadowing many of the trademarks that would make his later work among the most unclassifiable on recent television.

The series is directed by Dean Fleischer-Camp, who would later achieve success with the animated film Marcel the Shell with Shoes On. Among other highlights, David: The Story of David also features actress and comedian Jenny Slate, who recently appeared in the series Dying for Sex.
