‘¡Casa bonita mi amor!’

The original Casa Bonita opened in 1974 in a modest shopping center in CO. The massive ‘Disneyland of Mexican restaurants’ is a fever dream inspired by the Wild West and Acapulco, made famous for its grand indoor waterfall, cliff divers, and haunted caves. The restaurant appeared in a classic 2003 episode of South Park (titled ‘Casa Bonita’). When Trey Parker and Matt Stone learn that Casa Bonita might close its doors for good, they try to preserve a crumbling piece of their childhood and Denver’s history.

This curious documentary explores the story of the iconic Mexican restaurant, turned into a pop myth thanks to South Park and known for its over-the-top aesthetic. In ¡Casa Bonita mi amor!, we follow Trey and Matt in their attempt to save and restore it.
