Lalo’s life is falling apart: his father has died, he’s trapped in a toxic relationship with his boyfriend, and he’s giving in to his impulses.

Set in the city of Hamburg, Black Fruit follows the daily life of Lalo, a young man whose world is crumbling: his father has just passed away, he’s stuck in a toxic relationship with his white boyfriend, and he can’t seem to control his most impulsive decisions. His best friend, Karla—also queer and of African descent like him—has just been promoted at her job in a large corporation (to the suspicion of her coworkers) and must also deal with her sister’s problems.

In the vein of shows like Looking and Insecure, the series emerges as one of the standout LGTBIQ+ titles of the season. A dramedy about modern queer life and pretentiousness in the art world, filled with sharp, ironic humor. The series was featured at festivals such as Tribeca and Courts d’un soir in Montreal.
