Miniput celebrates its 32nd edition this year, taking place within Serielizados. Various programs from around the world will be presented, selected from the international INPUT. Documentaries, journalistic programs, social media formats, and fiction form a complete portrait of the current state of global television.
MINIPUT is the country’s only showcase dedicated to quality television. It is not a market. It is not a festival. It consists of sessions featuring screenings and debates with those responsible for the most innovative, provocative, educational, and public service-oriented television programs of the year, held in Barcelona every December since 1994.
MINIPUT is organized following the model of INPUT. INPUT, an acronym for International Public Television, is an international conference on public television held once a year since 1978, bringing together professionals and scholars from around the world linked to the television industry. At each annual gathering, hundreds of programs from the nearly 50 INPUT member countries are presented.
National coordinators select the most suitable programs for INPUT that aired on their country’s public television during the previous year. The final selection takes place in Germany during February. During the INPUT event, these programs are screened and issues regarding public television programming are debated, but no awards are given nor is any form of competition encouraged.
The programs screened are those most suitable for provoking reflection, due to their innovative or experimental approach, because they propose a new television format, make use of new technologies, or have generated controversy in their country of origin.
Following the same philosophy, spirit, and structure, MINIPUT concentrates its programming into a 12-hour marathon day where 12 to 14 programs are presented: a selection of the highlights from the previous INPUT edition and the best of local television in a thematic session.
