Sally Wainwright, 1st international guest of Serielizados 2025

British creator, screenwriter, and director Sally Wainwright, a major figure in UK television fiction, will be one of the standout international guests at the 12th edition of Serielizados – Barcelona Series Festival. Wainwright is best known for acclaimed series such as Happy Valley, one of the BBC’s most recent successes and winner of two BAFTA awards for Best Drama Series, and Gentleman Jack, a historical lesbian-themed drama co-produced by BBC and HBO.

Wainwright is currently in post-production on her new series, Riot Women, about a group of older women who form a punk-rock band to enter a talent show. Over her extensive career, she has also created acclaimed series such as Renegade Nell, Scott & Bailey, and Last Tango in Halifax. One of her main activities during the festival will be a masterclass, where she will talk about her career and her approach to series creation as a showrunner, writer, director, and producer.

Venues and Dates Serielizados 2025 – Barcelona Series Festival

Serielizados – Barcelona Series Festival will take place this year from November 3rd to 12th. The festival will return to its regular venues at the CCCB and CASA SEAT, and for the first time will include the Mooby Aribau cinemas. Hall 5 of these cinemas (currently the largest movie theatre in Barcelona, with a capacity of 1,200 people) will host the premieres of the most anticipated national series and other major screenings; while the rest of the cinemas will also feature a large part of the national and international programme.

Serielizados includes two main competitive sections. On the one hand, the National Official Selection, showcasing the most relevant Spanish series of the year; and on the other, the International Official Selection, featuring the best new series from around the world. In each section, the selected titles will compete for Best Series, Best Performance, and Best Screenplay.

As usual, the festival will also present additional premieres in parallel and special sections, TV and media-related film documentaries, talks with renowned creators from the national and international scenes, live podcasts, roundtables, and Serielizados PRO: the festival’s industry section. This boutique forum is aimed at professionals in the series sector and features a curated programme of panels, masterclasses, networking events, and an international pitching named Mind the Gap with the participation of commissioners and agents from around the world.

In addition to the in-person programming, Serielizados 2025 will continue its online presence on Filmin from November 10th to 23rd with a curated selection of the best international premieres series.

The previous edition of Serielizados brought together more than 9,000 people across its different venues in Barcelona, and a total of 205,000 online viewers via Filmin. This once again confirmed its position as the most attended series festival in Spain.
