With the potential to become one of the British true crimes of the season, The long shadow shows us the desperate cat-and-mouse hunt that is unleashed when Yorkshire is stalked by a serial killer.

Written by George Kay (Lupin) and directed by BAFTA winner Lewis Arnold (Sherwood, Time), The Long Shadow chronicles the five-year manhunt for serial killer Peter Sutcliffe, commonly known as the Yorkshire Ripper, focusing on the lives of the victims who crossed his path and the officers at the center of the police investigation.

With a stellar cast headed by Toby Jones as Dennis Hoban (the inspector who initially leads the investigation), and David Morrissey as George Oldfield (the inspector who eventually takes over the investigation), this series is a further demonstration that recent British fiction is in better shape than ever.
