Serielizados Fest premieres this Belgian tragicomedy about one of the world’s most universal themes: having children. Or, to be more precise, the impossibility of having children.
Through a unique look at infertility, but also at love and friendship, The Club tells the story of three couples with three different situations: Charlie and Ziggy are young and don’t think about having children until Charlie is diagnosed with premature ovarian failure, so it’s now or never. Ellen and Two want a child, but when Ellen learns she has endometriosis, Two is reluctant to offer her uterus. And then there are Kirstie and Bert whose lazy swimmers are affecting not only their ability to conceive, but also their relationship.
They each share the same hope…and doctor, the renowned Dr. Deseure, a woman who treats the desire to have children as a scientific rather than an emotional process.
Despite their completely different backgrounds, this group of strangers become friends and live this process together. Painfully realistic but always poignant, hopeful and humorous, The Club brings to light a subject rarely addressed in television fiction.
Original version (Belgian) with Spanish and Catalan subtitles.
