Serielizados Fest brings you the award-winning Iranian series of the season, The Actor, a story about a couple of actor friends who dedicate themselves to the craft of acting… in a peculiar way.
Directed by Venice Best Actor winner Navid Mohammadzadeh, The Actor follows Ali and his friend Morteza, two unemployed actors who make a living using their acting skills in a rather unusual way. In their eagerness to practice their craft, the two act in different situations on commission: a fake marriage proposal, a graduation party… All the while hoping to one day make it big on stage.
But sometimes things go wrong, and soon, Ali and Morteza attract the attention of a mysterious agency that gets them into unexpected trouble.
The Actor became the first Iranian series to win an award in an international competition. A little gem that plays with appearances and small-scale dramatisations while moving at a pace that keeps the viewer on edge thanks to its shifting tone.
