This two-part documentary explores the gang movement that originated in Birmingham and other industrial cities in the 19th century and inspired the famous BBC series.

What are the origins of the real Peaky Blinders? The phenomenon of massive street gangs that emerged in Birmingham in the late nineteenth century that was stifled by strong police and social reforms is the breeding ground from which the brilliant series created by Steven Knight drinks.

The Real Peaky Blinders is a documentary divided in two episodes in which, through the experiences of a series of individuals, whom we know from court reports and press archives of the time, we reconstruct the birth of organized crime in Birmingham.

A gangster movement that has its roots in working class areas where territorial loyalty was everything and gambling was a national pastime, developed in the shadow of Victorian middle class morality. A fascinating historical exploration that is the perfect complement for all Peaky Blinders fans, now that the series has ended and before its long-awaited movie arrives.
