Damon Lindelof, Sally Wainwright and Josh Thomas, headliners at the VII Serielizados Fest

The International Series Festival reinvents itself in its seventh edition to make the most of the online format. The festival and Karabot Studio have designed a Virtual Show that will host interviews with international talents conducted telematically.

This initiative, in collaboration with Popitas, aims to offer a more immersive and entertaining experience for the spectator. In addition, each interviews can be viewed from anywhere in the world through the Serielizados Youtube channel and will feature the following guests:

  • Damon Lindelof, creator of Watchmen. The New Jersey showrunner’s latest series was the big winner at the last Emmys with 11 awards, including Best Miniseries and Best Miniseries Screenplay. He is also the creator of iconic series such as Lost and The Leftovers. Lindelof will talk with journalist Toni Garcia Ramon about the adventure of adapting Alan Moore’s comic book.
  • Sally Wainwright, creator of Gentleman Jack. This veteran screenwriter, with more than 30 years of experience in British television, hit the table with her Happy Valley, which swept the BAFTAs in 2017. Wainwright will be interviewed by Isabel Vazquez about her past and upcoming projects.
  • Josh Thomas, creator of Please Like Me. One of the most important screenwriters of the millennial generation will talk with journalist Pere Solà on the 3D set of the Virtual Show. Serielizados Fest will also premiere his latest series, the dramedy Everything’s gonna be okay.
  • Rodrigo García, showrunner of the U.S. remake of En Terapia. The Mexican director is adapting his father Gabriel García Márquez’s novel One Hundred Years of Solitude into a TV series for Netflix. He will come to talk about it and his particular imaginary with veteran journalist Jordi Soler.
  • Simon Stalenhag, creator of the graphic novel Historias del Bucle, which has been brought to television this year by Amazon Prime Video. The Swedish artist will come to the Virtual Show to explain how he created “one of the 10 best dystopias in the world in recent years” according to The Guardian. Basque journalist Borja Crespo will conduct the interview.

Series Premieres

Serielizados Fest continues with its desire to bring to the spanish public the series that are triumphing in other countries and festivals around the world. In addition to the already well-known Panorama Section, this year we have the Official Competition, a careful selection of series that will compete for the Jury’s Award.

Both Panorama and Competition series selection will be available exclusively on Filmin, from October 20 to 29, along with the VII Showcase of Fiction Pilots and a selection of Documentaries about TV pop culture.

The professional jury that will award the prize for the best series is formed by UC3M professor and journalist Concepción Cascajosa (Fotogramas), showrunner Javier Olivares (El Ministerio del Tiempo, Atrapa a un ladrón) and designer Bina Daigeler (Narcos, Mrs. America).

This 7th Serielizados Fest will also feature live sessions in Barcelona (at the CCCB, Sala Phenomena and Casa SEAT), from October 20 to 25, and in Madrid (at Sala Berlanga and Academia de Cine), from October 26 to 29.
