Creators Armando Iannucci and Jon Brown and actors Daniel Brühl, Himesh Patel and Lolly Adefope will attend as guests at the 11th edition of Serielizados Fest to present their new series, The Franchise.
This HBO original comedy for Max follows the crew of an unloved franchise movie fighting for their place in a savage and unruly cinematic universe. The comedy series shines a light on the secret chaos inside the world of superhero moviemaking, to ask the question — how exactly does the cinematic sausage get made? Because every fuck-up has an origin story
The guests will present the first two chapters of the series and offer a discussion with the audience afterwards. Armando Iannucci is known for being the creator of the series Veep, winner of 17 Emmy awards, and other TV comedies such as The Thick of It or Avenue 5. He also directed the films In the Loop (nominated for an Oscar), The Death of Stalin or The Incredible Story of David Copperfield. Jon Brown has been a prominent screenwriter on series such as Succession and Misfits.
Regarding the actors invited to the festival, Daniel Brühl rose to fame with the film Good Bye, Lenin! and has participated in such renowned films as Inglourious Basterds, Salvador (Puig Antich) or recent series such as Falcon and the Winter Soldier or Becoming Karl Lagerfeld. Himesh Patel starred in the film Yesterday and stood out in the series Station Eleven. Likewise, Lolly Adefope has experience in comedy with series such as Ghosts, Shrill or Miracle Workers.
The cast is completed by Aya Cash, Jessica Hynes, Billy Magnussen, Darren Goldstein, Isaac Powell and Richard E. Grant. The pilot is directed by Sam Mendes (American Beauty, Skyfall, 1917), who also serves as executive producer along with Pippa Harris, Nicola Brown and Julie Pastor for Neal Street Productions. Armando Iannucci also serves as producer with Dundee Productions. The production is completed by Jim Kleverweis and Jon Brown, who is also the showrunner of the series.
