Serielizados Fest opens its 11th edition with this Disney+ series in which Javier Giner adapts his own autobiographical book. A story of overcoming addiction to alcohol, drugs and sex starring Oriol Pla. I, Addict tells the true story of Javier Giner, an audiovisual professional who, at the age of 30, decides to voluntarily enter a detoxification center. Unable to manage his vital anguish and the suffering he generates for himself and others, he has been submerged for several years in a self-destructive spiral of addiction to alcohol, drugs and sex. At the moment of maximum darkness, he will make the decision to ask for professional help moved by a desperate survival instinct. Without knowing it, this gesture will change his life, becoming a new person.
Based on the autobiographical novel of the same title by Javier Giner, the series is created by himself along with Aitor Gabilondo (Patria). Giner himself is also in charge of directing along with Elena Trapé (The Distances, The Enchanted, Celeste). The series is starred by a surprising Oriol Pla (Creatura, Tell Me Who I Am, What the Future Holds) and its cast includes Nora Navas, Àlex Brendemühl, Victoria Luengo, Ramón Barea and Omar Ayuso, among others.
I, Addict is produced by Alea Media for Disney+. The series is included in competition in the National Official Selection.
