A young journalist returns to her hometown in Gabon to investigate her younger brother’s disappearance. An intense African thriller with the CANAL+ seal.
Oliwina, a young journalist, returns to her hometown of Agouwé, in Gabon, after more than fifteen years living in France, to investigate the mysterious disappearance of her younger brother. Upon her arrival, the bodies of five unidentified children appear in a nearby mangrove, a case that recalls a childhood trauma of the protagonist herself.
In this small town surrounded by oceans and swampy areas, the name Mami Wata – a water deity, according to voodoo religion – is on everyone’s lips…
CANAL+ Africa presents this intense drama thriller reminiscent of the series Sharp Objects and blending reality and mythology through a frenetic story that mixes police corruption, politics, and social inequality.
