The 10th edition of the Serielizados Fest unveils its complete live program

Serielizados and serielizades…the big day has arrived! We already have here our complete live program for Barcelona and Madrid in our most special edition: the tenth anniversary.

After the announcement of Jesse Armstrong as the international guest in both cities, with the collaboration of the Spain Film Commission, we add to our confirmation of national series titles such as La Mesías or Això no és Suècia, as well as guests such as Javier Ambrossi and Javier Calvo, Álex de la Iglesia, Aina Clotet or Berto Romero.

From today, tickets for the activities and screenings of Serielizados Fest, which will take place from October 17 to 21 in Barcelona and from 24 to 28 in Madrid, are avaliable on the festival’s website.

A program full of premieres, exclusive screenings, activities, live podcasts, tributes and all kinds of activities on an edition that celebrates 10 years of history of the Serielizados project, which has become a reference for the world of series in Spain.

BARCELONA

The tenth edition of Serielizados Fest Barcelona will take place from October 17 to 21 in venues such as CCCB, Sala Phenomena, CASA SEAT and Auditori Blanquerna.

The festival will start with the world premiere of Això no és Suècia, an international co-production of 3Cat, RTVE and Swedish public television STV with the participation of public television stations YLE (Finland) and NDR (Germany). Co-directed by Mar Coll and Aina Clotet, who heads the cast together with Marcel Borràs, the series narrates in a dramatic comedy style the contradiction that a couple of young parents face when protecting their children from the dangers of life.

Serielizados Fest Barcelona will also host the premieres of national titles with the presence of their creators: La Mesías (Movistar Plus+), the new series by Javier Ambrossi and Javier Calvo, Déjate ver (atresplayer) by Álvaro Carmona, Las vidas de Fèlix (HBO Max) a documentary series in which director Fèlix Colomer explores aspects of his past life from the perspective of his recent fatherhood and Berto Romero’s debut in the horror genre with El otro lado (Movistar Plus+).

The festival will offer a session of Los Making-of by DAMA at CASA SEAT and a masterclass with Javier Ambrossi and Javier Calvo, moderated by journalist Pepa Blanes at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Communication and International Relations Blanquerna (URL), within the second edition of Serielizados Kick.

In addition, the festival will premiere the latest season of Fear the Walking Dead (AMC) at Phenomena, as well as the new documentary series about fanzine culture in Barcelona from the late 70’s to the present, Fanzilona (CaixaForum+), and Roni (3Cat), the new animated series by Juanjo Sáez (Arròs Covat), where we will have the presence of its creator and the creative team of the series.

Following the tradition of the Serielizados Fest, this year the festival will pay tribute to one of the most remembered Catalan series that celebrates its 30th anniversary: Oh Europa by Dagoll Dagom. Similarly, and on the occasion of the presence of Jesse Armstrong at the Serielizados Fest, the festival will screen Peep Show, the first series of the well-known screenwriter. It will be an ideal opportunity to discover one of the best and most unknown works of the creator of Succession in a session that will also feature a live program of La Llama’s podcast, Explicado Pierde with Raquel Hervás, Javier Rueda, Kike García and Àlex Martínez Vidal.

Other live podcasts to be offered at the upcoming Serielizados Fest Barcelona will be La trama, a podcast dedicated to the art of screenwriting where the irruption of AI will be discussed, with the participation of experts in the field. Also, the podcast about anime produced by Serielizados, Sopa de Miso, will start its new season with a live special and the screening of One Piece Film: Red at Phenomena.

Emerging talent will once again be present at this year’s Serielizados Fest with the tenth edition of the Showcase de Pilotos de Serie. With the support of DAMA, the audiovisual rights management entity, Popitas and Antaviana VFX & Postproduction, the Showcase gala will be held on Friday 20th where the selected pilots will be screened: ‘Encontrar la calma’ by ‘Alex Ayres, ‘A Arte De Ser (Mal) Pai’ by Porco Bravú, ‘Trippiecontes’ by Santa Penya and ‘Bruno & Co’ by Alejo Levis. As a novelty of this edition, the Showcase gala will also take place at Alcine, Alcalá de Henares Film Festival on November 8th.

One day later, Saturday, October 21, will be one of the most special days of Serielizados Fest 2023. At 11 am, the Phenomena hall will host a marathon of the acclaimed first season of the series 30 Coins (HBO Max) with its creator, filmmaker Álex de la Iglesia, who will accompany the audience in a colloquium halfway through the screening.

At 7 p.m., it will be the turn of this year’s international guest Jesse Armstrong, creator of Succession, who will give a talk open to the public presented by journalist Toni Garcia Ramon where he will discuss the secrets of the series of the year. On the same day, the 10th Anniversary Party of the Serielizados project will be held at the Sala Paral·lel 62 in a night of stand up comedy and DJ sets, tickets for which went on sale last week.

MADRID

The edition of Serielizados Fest Madrid will take place from October 24 to 28 at the Cine Estudio de Círculo de Bellas Artes, Cinesa Proyecciones (Sala 5) and Academia de Cine.

This edition will kick off with the visit of Jesse Armstrong, who will offer a masterclass at the Sala Columnas de Círculo de Bellas Artes for industry professionals, with the collaboration of the Spain Film Commission and moderated by Goya-winning filmmaker Clara Roquet. In the section of premieres and exclusive screenings, Serielizados Fest Madrid will offer series such as El otro lado (Movistar Plus+), Esto no es Suecia (3Cat, TVE), Noche de Chicas (Disney+), Déjate Ver (atresplayer), Luz en la oscuridad (Movistar Plus+) and the Swedish series Evil (SundanceTV), which will be screened along with a live program of the Serielizados Travelling Series travel podcast, presented by Lorenzo Mejino.

As for the events and talks at Serielizados Fest Madrid, the usual sessions will be repeated, such as ‘El Madrid de las series’, with the collaboration of Madrid Film Office, where the details of the shooting of the series El Inmortal or the talk ‘Fotogramas Presenta‘ dedicated to the latest creation of Javier Ambrossi and Javier Calvo, the awaited La Mesías. Also, the Serielizados Fest will be one of the stops of Turra Tour, a comedy show starring screenwriters and directors Diego San José (Vota Juan) and Borja Cobeaga (No me gusta conducir), presented by journalist Mariola Cubells, where they will be accompanied by illustrious guests from their ‘cinematic universe’.
