The ninth edition of the International Series Festival has established itself as one of the biggest events of the Spanish audiovisual industry, gathering more than 8,300 people in its in-person editions in Barcelona (October 18-22) and Madrid (October 25-29), exceeding last year’s numbers by two thousand spectators. And 158,000 in its online edition through the Filmin platform (October 18-30).
Betu Martínez, co-director of the festival points out: “It has been the year of the national series and talent with premieres such as La Ruta, Fácil, Pobre Diablo or Smiley and the consolidation of Serielizados Fest, outside the pandemic context“.
This year’s edition of Serielizados Fest has been attended by personalities from the national audiovisual scene such as Borja Cobeaga, Joaquín Reyes, Ernesto Sevilla, Anna R Costa, Miki Esparbé, Carlos Cuevas, Vicky Luengo, Juan Diego Botto and Alex Monner, among many other artists and creators.
In the awards section, the Serielizados Fest has distinguished two series of the official section: Suspicion (Czech Republic), which has been awarded the Jury Prize, and Ida takes charge (Norway), which has received the Young Jury Prize.
- Suspicion (Czech Republic, 2021). One of the most chilling performances in recent years. Based on true events, this drama narrates the life of Hana Kučerová, a cold and distant nurse with no social skills, who often treats her patients badly. When one of them dies under suspicious circumstances, it becomes clear to the media, the police and her colleagues that she is the one who did it. A brilliant miniseries that does not try to blame, but to identify the difference between truth and appearance.
- Ida takes charge (Norway, 2022). Ida moves to Oslo to study psychology. Her greatest fear is a terrorist attack at her own university, like the ones on the news. All hell breaks loose when she meets Aksel, a lone wolf labeled as incel (celibate).
Serielizados Fest 2022 says goodbye to its public, to prepare it’s 10th edition!
