He hosts <strong><em>Portobello<\/em><\/strong>, a show that reaches 28 million viewers in prime time, where contestants try to make the parrot \u2014the show\u2019s mascot\u2014 talk. Tortora is <strong>the king of 1980s television<\/strong>, and the President of Italy, <strong>Alessandro Pertini<\/strong>, even names him Commander of the Republic.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>During this time, the <strong>Irpinia earthquake<\/strong> delivers the final blow to the already fragile balance of the new criminal organization of the <strong>Camorra<\/strong>. <strong>Giovanni Pandico<\/strong>, a trusted friend of mafia boss <strong>Raffaele Cutolo<\/strong> and a regular viewer of &#8220;Portobello,&#8221; decides to repent. Questioned by judges, he names an unexpected person: Enzo Tortora. When on June 17, <strong>1983<\/strong>, the Italian police knock on the door of Tortora\u2019s hotel room, he believes it must be a mistake \u2014 but it\u2019s only the beginning of an ordeal that will drag him from the heights to the abyss.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Directed by veteran Italian filmmaker <b>Marco Bellocchio, <\/b>the series, the first Italian production for HBO Max, had its world premiere just over a month ago at the <strong>Venice Film Festival<\/strong>. Bellocchio is one of Europe\u2019s great filmmakers, director of films such as <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Devil in the Flesh<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Vincere<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Traitor<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> or <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Kidnapping<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, among many others.
